YANKEY Engineering at SEMICON Taiwan 2026 Forum

At the recently concluded SEMICON Taiwan 2026 High-Tech Facility International Forum, YANKEY Engineering was represented by Vice President Su, while Chien Shih-Cheng, Manager of the R&D Department at YANKEY Engineering’s R&D Center, took the stage to share the company’s latest research and development achievements, highlighting the innovative application of AI-powered Indoor UAVs integrated with Smart Construction.
High-tech facility construction environments often present significant challenges for conventional inspection methods. GPS signals are typically unavailable indoors, while dense piping systems and confined spaces can further compromise both efficiency and safety.
At YANKEY Engineering, our goal is not simply to enable drones to operate inside construction sites, but to transform them into intelligent tools that support engineering management and data-driven decision-making.
Through autonomous UAV inspection, we integrate three key engineering applications into a unified workflow:
|EHS Safety Inspection
AI-powered visual recognition enables real-time identification of PPE compliance, personnel behavior, and unauthorized entry into restricted areas, helping to cover blind spots that fixed surveillance cameras may not capture.
| Construction Progress Management
UAVs autonomously follow predefined inspection routes to continuously document on-site construction progress, creating objective, traceable, and consistent project records.
| Point Cloud × BIM Comparison
Image data is processed to generate As-Built Point Clouds, which can then be overlaid and compared with BIM models, allowing engineering management to evolve from experience-based assessment toward data-driven decision-making.
We believe UAVs are more than simply “flying cameras.” They can serve as an AI-powered Mobile Sensing Platform capable of autonomously collecting spatial and engineering data.
Looking ahead, as AI continues to reshape industries, the true value of technology lies not only in innovation, but in its ability to be implemented effectively and solve real-world engineering challenges.
YANKEY Engineering will continue to advance the integration of AI, indoor positioning, computer vision, autonomous inspection, Digital Twin applications, and construction automation technologies, enabling UAVs to become critical data nodes throughout the entire lifecycle of high-tech facilities.
Through these efforts, we aim to build a smarter, safer, and more efficient engineering ecosystem while laying a solid foundation for the industry’s digital transformation.
Chien Shih-Cheng, Manager of the R&D Department at YANKEY Engineering’s R&D Center, holds a Master’s degree in Chemistry from Kaohsiung Medical University and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Nagoya University, Japan. He previously worked for a globally recognized third-party inspection, testing, and certification organization. After returning to Taiwan, he joined the National Science and Technology Council to participate in the research and development of critical national technologies, before joining YANKEY Engineering last year.
If you are interested in AI, Smart Construction, Digital Twin technologies, or construction automation, and would like to explore how these innovations can be applied to real-world construction methods and engineering management, we welcome you to contact YANKEY Engineering and exchange ideas with us.
