2026 Yankey Engineering Hackathon | Grand Finale
Defining Engineering Through Science, Making AI Part of Everyday Work
The First Yankey AI Agent Hackathon Concludes Successfully
Building a Smarter Engineering Future Through Efficiency and Expertise
As Generative AI and AI Agent technologies continue to evolve rapidly, Yankey Engineering officially launched its first-ever Yankey AI Agent Hackathon (Meow-kathon) this year. Organized by the R&D Department, the event attracted more than 100 employees and 24 cross-functional teams. Through a structured training program and hands-on development workshops, participants were encouraged to identify real workplace challenges and explore innovative AI Agent applications across engineering design, construction management, regulatory review, and process optimization.
The competition focused on leveraging AI to improve operational efficiency, reduce manual workloads, strengthen knowledge transfer, and enhance decision-making quality. AI was positioned not merely as a tool, but as a practical partner capable of helping employees solve complex engineering challenges. Following preliminary evaluations and company-wide voting, seven outstanding teams advanced to the final round, presenting their solutions at Yankey Engineering's Linkou headquarters and demonstrating the organization's collaborative innovation and digital transformation capabilities.Under the professional evaluation of the executive judging panel, the champion, runner-up, and second runner-up teams were officially announced. Total prize awards exceeded NT$300,000, with the championship team receiving a six-figure cash prize. Throughout the competition, senior management remained actively engaged, gaining firsthand insight into how AI Agents can be integrated into engineering workflows and exploring their future potential, reflecting the company's strong commitment to digital transformation.Several proposals received high recognition, covering diverse application areas including project progress management, automated design review, regulatory compliance optimization, workflow automation, and AI-assisted decision-making.
Among them, the championship-winning project, "Lightning – Electrical Cable Tray Selection Assistant," stood out for its practical engineering value. By integrating company-standard drawings, structural design specifications, and internal knowledge databases, the AI Agent enables engineers to rapidly determine appropriate cable tray configurations and prepare construction drawings with significantly greater efficiency.Traditionally, designing eight cable tray systems required extensive structural modeling, engineering analysis, and cross-department collaboration, taking approximately 240 minutes to complete. With the AI Agent, the same task can now be completed in roughly 40 minutes, representing an 83% reduction in working time. In addition, through standardized databases and built-in validation mechanisms, the solution achieves near-zero errors within standard design parameters, improving design quality, increasing execution efficiency, reducing communication costs, and minimizing construction-related disputes.Beyond electrical systems, the solution also demonstrates strong scalability and may be extended to HVAC duct supports, piping support systems, and other MEP engineering applications, further expanding the value of intelligent engineering solutions.
At the same time, Yankey Engineering officially launched its internal AI platform, York.AI, empowering every employee to integrate AI into their daily workflow. Through a unified platform, standardized governance, and continuous talent development, the company is building a sustainable enterprise AI ecosystem that supports long-term innovation and operational excellence.Although the first Yankey AI Agent Hackathon has come to a successful conclusion, the journey of AI innovation is only beginning. Moving forward, Yankey Engineering will continue expanding AI Agent applications, combining engineering expertise, digital capabilities, and practical experience to accelerate the deployment of innovative solutions and advance toward a future of smarter, more efficient, and higher-quality engineering services.
